Our Foundation
Giving
Methodist Hospital's remarkable service to residents of the San Gabriel Valley would not be possible without the dedication, commitment and financial support of the Methodist Hospital Foundation. Gifts and bequests to the Foundation provide resources for new medical technology, first-rate hospital facilities and high-quality, personal health care services. The Foundation also supports extensive outreach programs that benefit local communities through our schools, religious institutions, medical clinics and community education classes.
Founded in 1979 and led by a board of community-based volunteers, the Foundation has provided more than $35 million in support for the hospital. In recent years, the Foundation was instrumental in building the new Berger Tower, equipping a state-of-the-art Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory and funding a new Health Ministries program, which brings vital health services to faith communities throughout the region.
Opportunities for Support
Increasingly, not-for-profit hospitals like Methodist must depend on the generous support of individuals, organizations, businesses and private foundations to provide the margin of excellence our communities need and deserve. Through participation in the Foundation's fundraising programs, the community links with the Hospital in a partnership of mutual benefit. Giving opportunities include:
- Annual contributions, with special recognition for members of the Colleagues, a group of dedicated individuals who give $1,000 or more
- Special events such as the annual Crystal Ball, Mardi Gras and Golf Classic
- Major gifts and pledges, which can be made over a period of years and given in the form of cash, securities, real estate or personal property
- Bequests in a will or living trust
- Gifts through retirement plans or insurance policies
- Gift Annuities and Charitable Remainder Trusts that provide income to the donor or designated beneficiary for life or a period of years, and a gift to Methodist in the future
In Appreciation
Donors are honored with permanent inscriptions on the Tradition of Giving Donor Wall and in areas throughout the hospital, and are invited to special programs and events. Donors may also choose to remain anonymous or to create a memorial to a loved one.
Foundation Services
The Foundation's professional staff provides assistance to donors and their advisors with information on the benefits of charitable gifts in financial and estate plans. Seminars, publications and personal presentations are offered, and management of selected life-income gifts is also available.
